IRVING (February 6, 2014) Retail gasoline prices across Texas dropped by an average of 2 cents this week to $3.07 per gallon, AAA-Texas reported Thursday.
The statewide figure for regular unleaded is 30 cents less than it was this time a year ago, AAA said.
AAA says the national average remains at $3.27 per gallon.
Of the metropolitan areas surveyed in Texas, drivers in Amarillo continued to pay the least at $2.98 while motorists in El Paso were paying the most on average, at $3.13 per gallon.
Cold temperatures across much of the country led to weak demand and kept prices flat to begin 2014.
AAA analysts expect the national average to move higher in the coming months as temperatures warm, people travel more and the demand for fuel increases.
