HOUSTON (July 3, 2013)—Average retail gasoline prices across Texas fell by a nickel this week, AAA-Texas reported Wednesday.
AAA said the average statewide gas price was $3.34 a gallon as a projected 2.4 million Texans take to the road for Fourth of July getaways.
Drivers in Dallas are paying the most at $3.40 a gallon while those in Amarillo are paying the least on average at $3.21.
AAA says the national average is $3.48, a drop of 6 cents from last week.
Analysts say gas supplies are at their highest levels for this time of year in more than two decades, which has pushed retail prices down despite the rising cost of crude oil.
