AUSTIN (October 17, 2013)--Retail gasoline prices across Texas edged up slightly this week, but are still much lower than they were this time last year, AAA-Texas reported Thursday.
AAA said the statewide average price at the pump increased 1 cent to $3.12 per gallon, 40 cents less per gallon than what drivers statewide were paying on Oct. 17, 2012.
Drivers in Amarillo and Texarkana are paying the most at $3.16 per gallon, and drivers in Galveston are paying the least at $3.05.
The average price nationally stood at $3.36.
Sufficient gas supplies, a lower demand for fuel and refineries' traditional seasonal transition to cheaper, winter-blend fuel production all have helped lower prices.
