NEW YORK (February 15, 2013)--Stocks closed narrowly mixed Friday on Wall Street as the S&P 500 index notched its seventh straight week of gains.
The Dow Jones industrial average ended slightly lower for the week, giving it a second straight weekly loss.
Indexes ended the day more or less where they started Friday as investors held back ahead of a meeting of global finance ministers and central bankers in Moscow.
The Dow edged up eight points to close at 13,981.
The Standard & Poor's 500 edged down a point to end at 1,519.
The Nasdaq composite lost six points to end the day at 3,192.
Energy stocks followed crude oil prices lower. Schlumberger and Chevron fell.
Slightly more stocks fell than rose on the New York Stock Exchange where volume was in line with the recent average, 3.7 billion shares.
