DALLAS (May 6, 2013)--About 27,000 Atmos Energy customers have were charged 10 times the actual amount of their bills, the company said Monday.
Company spokeswoman Jennifer Ryan said the mistake involved customers whose bills are paid automatically through their checking accounts or credit cards.
She said the company expects the issue to be resolved "within 24 to 72 hours."
Ryan says the Dallas-based company will work with each customer to reimburse any fees incurred because of the mistake.
She said the company will work "to assure their financial needs will be taken care of."
