AUSTIN (November 22, 2013) The Texas Department of Transportation said Friday it plans to continue to release the names of habitual toll-road freeloaders every month.
TxDOT will next publish updated lists of the state’s 25 worst scofflaws starting on Dec. 2, the agency said Friday.
TxDOT says it has already has entered into payment discussions with 10 of the top 25 violators publicized last month, and six of those are now in good standing.
The department collected $1.3 million in unpaid tolls and fees in just the past month, TxDOT finance chief James Bass said.
"This is good news for the thousands of law-abiding citizens who do pay their tolls on time and is an initiative TxDOT will continue to take seriously as we pursue millions of dollars in delinquent tolls on behalf of Texas taxpayers,” he said.
