AUSTIN (May 13, 2013)--The University of Texas at Austin announced Monday that its Denius-Sams Gaming Academy will begin in fall 2014 with a focus on training students to become game development team leaders.
Warren Spector, a 30-year veteran of the video game industry known for work on "Ultima" and "System Shock," will guide the curriculum, and he and Paul Sams, chief operating officer of Blizzard Entertainment, will serve as part-time instructors.
Students attending the academy will earn post-baccalaureate certificates instead of graduate degrees.
The academy will include a 12-month program in which students will create a small-scale game.
Only 20 spots are available next year for the academy.
