NEW YORK (February 8, 2013)—CBS sent a memo this week to requesting that Grammy performers keep their "buttocks and female breasts…adequately covered" during the show.
The memo also warns against "see-through clothing" and exposing "the genital region" and adds "thong type costumes are problematic."
Representatives of CBS and the Recording Academy could not be reached for comment.
CBS is the network that aired the 2004 Super Bowl when Janet Jackson suffered a "wardrobe malfunction” during the halftime show.
Six artists lead the nominations, Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, fun., Jay-Z, Mumford and Sons, Frank Ocean and Kanye West.
The Black Keys, fun., Mumford and Sons, Ocean and Jack White are nominated for album of the year.
Fun. is also nominated for record and song of the year and best new artist.
The only artist ever to sweep all four big categories is Christopher Cross.
