LOS ANGELES (January 14, 2013)--A new report shows that coroner's officials amended the death certificate for actress Natalie Wood's based on unanswered questions about bruises on her upper body.
Los Angeles coroner's officials state in an addendum to Wood's autopsy reported that some of the bruises might have occurred before she went into the water and drowned, but that could not be definitively determined.
Authorities renewed their inquiry into Wood's 1981 death in late 2011.
Monday's report lays out the reasons for altering her cause of death from drowning to "drowning and other undetermined factors."
Wood was on a yacht off Catalina Island with husband Robert Wagner and co-star Christopher Walken before she somehow ended up in the water.
Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore says the investigation of Wood's death is open, but reiterated that Wagner is not considered a suspect.
