SAN JOSE, Calif. (July 31, 2014) In 1968, when Dionne Warwick recorded “Do You Know The Way To San Jose,” she’d never been there and didn’t even think much of the song.
The song became a huge hit, however, and Warwick, 73, says she cried all the way to the bank.
The catchy tune written by songwriting team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David would become her biggest international seller and won Warwick her first Grammy Award.
This week, Warwick is heading back to San Jose to be honored as the city's "global ambassador of goodwill," and she's performing "Do You Know The Way To San Jose?" at a concert there Friday night.
