Door From Paul McCartney’s Childhood Home Sells At Auction

LONDON (April 17, 2013)--A beat-up olive green door with a broken pane of glass has sold at auction for $7,600 because it was the front door to Paul McCartney's childhood home.

Dominic Winter Auctions says the people who owned the house after the McCartneys replaced the door in 1978.

Singer-songwriter Glen South acquired the door and has owned it ever since.

The original door to McCartney’s bedroom in the same house sold at auction in 1995 for $4,400.
