WEST JORDAN, Utah (January 3, 2012)--) - A Utah school district cancelled a high school play that uses Elvis Presley's music after someone complained that one of the songs is sexually suggestive, but officials reversed the decision the next day.

Jordan School District officials announced plans Wednesday to scrap Herriman High School's production of "All Shook Up," saying it could be offensive.

District spokeswoman Sandy Riesgraf said a person approached the district before Christmas break and complained about the play, which is loosely based on William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night."

Riesgraf said district administrators reviewed the script over the break and determined it didn't meet new standards put in place over the summer after another high school play came under scrutiny.

The Deseret News reports students had already started rehearsing the play, which was to have been staged in February.

Then on Thursday, officials said they received permission from the play's producer to trim some objectionable material from the American jukebox musical that borrows from Presley's songbook and William Shakespeare.

Rehearsals for "All Shook Up" were canceled Wednesday before the play was made ready for production at Herriman High School, 20 miles south of Salt Lake City.

Jordan School District spokeswoman Sandy Riesgraf said the show will go on with some minor edits to Presley's songs and scene changes, but couldn't immediately specify the changes.
