Essence Music Festival Opens Thursday; Adds Youth Day

NEW ORLEANS (July 4, 2012)--The Essence Music Festival opens Thursday in New Orleans with a youth-oriented lineup, including rapper Diggy Simmons, Coco Jones from the Disney Channel, the OMG Girlz and local act The Roots of Music.

The festival added a fourth day for the youth lineup.

Others playing over the weekend include Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Fantasia, Kirk Franklin, Marsha Ambrosius, Doug E. Fresh, Stephanie Mills, D'Angelo, Trey Songz, Keyshia Cole, and the Pointer Sisters.
