WASHINGTON (June 18, 2013)--Former actress Dolores Hart says she left Hollywood 50 years ago to become a nun because she couldn't believe that God made human beings in a beautiful world only to have them die meaningless deaths.
Hart made 10 films, two of them with Elvis Presley.
In "Loving You" in 1957, she gave Elvis his first screen kiss.
She says they both blushed.
She also starred in "Where the Boys Are."
In 1963, after meeting Pope John XXIII, she entered the convent searching for her life's true mission.
She's now known as Mother Dolores at the abbey in Bethlehem, Connecticut.
Her autobiography is titled, "The Ear of the Heart."
