WASHINGTON (October 24, 20120—Rumors have circulated for years about the possibility of a movie about the legendary Texas-born performer Janis Joplin and even Joplin’s siblings wonder if that’s ever going to happen.
Joplin's family controls the rights to her music, so anyone who wants to shoot a film that includes her songs would have to ask them for permission.
Her brother, Michael Joplin, says he was excited years ago about the prospects of a movie, but now he's just waiting to see what happens.
Her sister, Laura Joplin, says if Janis was still alive, she has no doubt she would still be creative.
Janis' life story is being told in the stage production "One Night With Janis," which is currently running in Washington.
