(April 5, 2013)--Local country music singer Granger Smith is paying tribute to members of the Armed Forces by walking 100 miles in combat boots and raising money along the way.
Known for hits like “We Do It In A Field” and “Saturday Night Meets Sunday Morning,” Smith will walk from Austin to Fort Hood as part of the Boot Campaign that sells signature military combat boots and receives corporate sponsorships to help soldiers with jobs, housing, family support, and wellness.
Since 2011, Smith has logged 200 miles in his boots.
He will begin his journey Sunday and will arrive at Fort Hood Thursday.
His free concert will be open to the public and dedicated to members of the Armed Forces.
It is from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. at the Harley Davidson in Harker Heights.
Fans can purchase his new album before it is released.
Donations for the Boot Campaign will be accepted at the door.
