LONDON (October 1, 2013)--The British rock group Lostprophets has officially announced it is breaking up on the heels of news that its front man was arrested and charged with multiple counts involving sex with children.
Ian Watkins was arrested in December and is facing more than 20 counts, including raping a baby.
While Watkins denies the charges and is due to go on trial later this year, the band's five other members have decided to pull the plug.
In a statement, the group says it's now ready to announce publicly what they have "thought privately for some time" - that they can "no longer continue making or performing music as Lostprophets."
The group formed in 1997 and had an album top the British charts in 2006.
