MTV Cancels “BUCKWILD” After Star’s Death

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (April 10, 2013)--MTV is canceling the West Virginia-based reality TV show "BUCKWILD" after the accidental death of one of the show’s stars Shain Gandee, 21, network spokesman Jake Urbanski confirmed Wednesday.

Gandee, an uncle and a friend were found dead of carbon monoxide poisoning April 1.

Gandee's SUV was stuck in a mud pit near his Sissonville home, its tail pipe submerged, which could have allowed the invisible gas to fill the vehicle's cabin.

Gandee was buried Sunday after a service in Charleston that drew hundreds of friends, family and fans.

Shain Gandee, nicknamed "Gandee Candy" by fans, was a breakout star of the show, which followed the antics of young friends enjoying their wild, country lifestyle.

Season one was filmed last year, mostly around Sissonville and Charleston.

Shooting of season two was under way.
