WASHINGTON (February 11, 2014) Mary J. Blige performs Tuesday night at a state dinner for the French president at the White House.
Blige will perform for the 350 guests who will attend the dinner for French President Francois Hollande.
White House social secretary Jeremy Bernard said Blige was chosen because she is an internationally known singer who can help celebrate someone like the first-term French president.
It's the first state dinner of President Barack Obama's second term.
Blige performed at the big pre-inaugural concert in January 2009 at the Lincoln Memorial, days before Mr. Obama was sworn in as the nation's first black president.
