NBC Develops Johnny Carson Miniseries

NEW YORK (September 19, 2013)—NBC is developing a miniseries based on the life of talk show host Johnny Carson, who ruled late-night television as host of the "Tonight" show from 1962 to 1992, the network said Thursday.

The series will be based on an upcoming biography of Carson by Bill Zehme and will cover his childhood in Nebraska and his off-screen life as well as the 30 years he spent at the "Tonight" show.

The network hasn't cast an actor to play Carson yet.

NBC didn’t say when the miniseries might air.
