ENCINITAS, Calif. (December 21, 2012)—Texas singer-songwriter Norah Jones was among hundreds of friends and family who remembered her father, sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar at service in California.
The musician was lauded as a generous teacher with a gentle spirit and a sense of humor.
Among those who spoke at the service was Olivia Harrison, the widow of the late Beatle George Harrison.
She praised Shankar as someone who helped her husband achieve a more meaningful life when he was a young and a member of the Beatles.
Shankar died last week in San Diego at age 92.
