NEW YORK (June 24, 2013)—Celebrity cook Paula Deen is scheduled to appear on NBC's "Today" show on Wednesday, host Matt Lauer said, after she abruptly canceled last week.
Deen, 66, is at the center of controversy after admitting last month while being questioned in a discrimination lawsuit that she used the N-word in the past.
Smithfield Foods, meanwhile, announced Monday it is dropping Deen as a spokeswoman.
The announcement came just days after the Food Network said it would not renew Deen's contract.
In a statement, Smithfield said it "condemns the use of offensive and discriminatory language and behavior of any kind."
