Prince Closes Out SXSW With Marathon Performance

Print

AUSTIN (March 18, 2013)--Prince closed out the South by Southwest Music Festival Saturday night in Austin, but didn’t finish his set until 3 a.m. Sunday, which evidently was past the bedtimes of some of those who attended.

Some bleary eyed fans headed for the exits before the two-and-a-half hour show ended.

Prince never played guitar during his set, but seemed to take delight in his staying power as a musician.

Before the first of several encores, he told the audience, “Don't make me hurt you. You know how many hits I got?"

Others who performed at SXSW during the week week included Green Day, Dave Grohl, Vampire Weekend, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks.
