BUCHAREST (August 3, 2012)--Internationally renowned Romanian pianist Mihaela Ursuleasa, 33, has been found dead in her apartment in the Austrian capital, her agent Andreea Butucariu said Friday.

Butucariu said Ursuleasa died on Thursday from the effects of a cerebral hemorrhage and asked for her family's privacy to be respected.

Police in Vienna confirmed the cause of death.

Butucariu told Romanian media that Ursuleasa had recently cancelled two concerts for health reasons.

Ursuleasa began playing the piano when she was 5 in then communist Romania under the guidance of her Gypsy jazz musician father, and obtained a grant to study in Vienna when she was 12.

She went on to play at New York's Carnegie Hall and with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

She is survived by a 5-year-old daughter.
