Singer For Grammy-Nominated Band Charged In Murder-For-Hire Plot

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (May 8, 2013)—Tim Lambesis, 32, the singer for the Grammy-nominated heavy metal band As I Lay Dying, has been arrested in Southern California in connection with what authorities say was an attempt to hire an undercover detective to kill his estranged wife.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department says Lambesis was arrested Tuesday in Oceanside, Calif.

A statement from authorities says detectives received information Thursday that Lambesis had solicited someone to kill his wife.

A task force from several law enforcement agencies quickly launched an investigation that led to the arrest.

The department provided no further details on the investigation.

As I Lay Dying formed in San Diego in 2000.

Its 2007 album "An Ocean Between Us" reached No. 8 on Billboard's charts, and one track was nominated for a Grammy for top metal performance.
