LONDON (August 6, 2013)--Elton John, 66, said last month his appendix was "a ticking time bomb," but now it has been defused.
Doctors removed it last week at Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco, near John’s home in the south of France.
Last month, John canceled a series of shows after the appendix became inflamed and the surrounding area became abscessed.
At the time, he was treated with antibiotics.
He's expected to be well enough to perform in London on Sept. 2 when he receives the Brits Icon Award.
