NEW ORLEANS (April 29, 2013)—The first weekend of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival got off to a soggy start as a soaked Dave Matthews and his band played through a storm that rocked the area as the day ended.
But that didn't stop the fans, many in rain boots and wearing plastic ponchos, from cheering and dancing to the music.
The performance ended just as lighting and thunder struck. B
.B. King and Dianne Reeves also performed Sunday.
Reeves was making a return to the festival after a year's absence.
She missed last year's event because of her mother's death and was apparently talking about more than just the weather when she told the audience, "We made it through the rain and storm clouds - now sit back and relax and enjoy the music."
