TREMONT, Miss. (May 6, 2013)--Officials in Tammy Wynette's hometown are hoping to get funding to build a museum in honor of the late country star.
State lawmakers included funds for the Tammy Wynette Museum in a bond bill, but the funding wasn’t included in the final version of the bill, which the governor recently signed.
Glyn Robinson, mayor of Wynette's hometown of Tremont, Miss., says land has been acquired for the museum.
He said efforts are being made to raise money.
Robinson says the museum would be a magnet for tourists visiting music sites in Memphis, Tenn, Muscle Shoals, Ala., and Tupelo, Miss.
