NEW YORK (March 28, 2013)—The ratings are epic for the History Channel miniseries “The Bible,” and a survey suggests the program is making an impact.
The dramatization of the Old and New Testaments has attracted more than 10 million viewers in each of its first four weeks.
The final two hours will be shown on Easter Sunday.
While the series was being made, actress and co-producer Roma Downey says megachurch Pastor Rick Warren counseled her to ask God every day to "Use me."
When production was completed, Downey said Warren advised her to change her prayer to "Use this."
A survey by the American Bible Society suggests that prayer is being answered.
The survey found that 42 percent of U.S. adults have watched at least one episode of “The Bible,” and that more than one-fourth of those viewers said they were non-Christian.
The survey also found that 69 percent of those who watched the series said it taught them something new about the Bible.
