PROVIDENCE, R.I. (July 19, 2012)--Fans who are still holding tickets for a canceled 1979 show in Rhode Island by British rock band The Who can finally use them.

The Who's 1979 concert in Providence was canceled by then-Mayor Buddy Cianci after a stampede before a show in Cincinnati, Ohio, killed 11 people.

The Who is now scheduled to play in Providence in February at the Dunkin Donuts Center, and arena General Manager Lawrence Lepore said the venue will honor tickets from the canceled 1979 show.

He first made the offer on WPRO-AM on Thursday.

Lepore said refunds were given after the show was canceled, but said that some people held onto tickets as memorabilia.

Any 1979 tickets redeemed will be donated to the Special Olympics of Rhode Island to help raise money.
