Fort Hood’s 1st Battalion, 4th Aviation Regiment, will hold a welcoming ceremony Thursday for the first AH-64D Apache Longbow Lot 8 helicopter delivered to the 4th Infantry Division.

The ceremony, which is not open to the public, will include a formation of troops and the presentation of the aircraft’s logbook and keys.

Fourth Infantry Division Commander Maj. Gen. James Thurman took delivery of the aircraft in August from the Boeing production facility in Meza, Arizona.

“The advanced Apache Longbow will greatly increase the combined arms capabilities in the division and improve upon air to ground situational awareness abilities and long range communication,” according to a 4th Infantry Division press release.
