(January 31, 2008)—Gatesville police arrested one man early Thursday after a 15-mile chase that ended in a foot pursuit.
It started just after 2 a.m. Thursday with the report of a prowler in the 400 block of Bridge Street in Gatesville.
Officers arrived in the area, spotted a speeding vehicle and gave chase.
The car had been reported stolen earlier in Gatesville.
The chase ended 12 miles east of Gatesville when the driver stopped and tried to escape on foot, but officers were able to arrest him.
Two passengers in the vehicle were questioned and then released.
Joe Johnson Barnes, 32, of Gatesville, was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading detention with a vehicle.
He was also named in a warrant charging escape, police said late Thursday afternoon.
