(February 26, 2008)--State officials say wildfires this week have burned about 250,000 acres and left at least six firefighters injured.

The Texas Forest Service says the biggest blaze is about 50 miles southwest of the West Texas town of Robert Lee.

Schools were closed Tuesday in Robert Lee, due to the fire danger, but classes are expected to resume Wednesday.

Mayor Joe White says most of the damage has been limited to hunting-related structures and trailers.

As of late Tuesday, the outbreak of wildfires had threatened more than 570 structures, including about 200 in Odessa.

Authorities say seven structures were destroyed.

Four firefighters were injured in a head-on collision of fire trucks in Archer County Monday.

One remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Two firefighters in West Texas were treated for smoke inhalation.
