Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Waco, is scheduled to announce a $5 million plan Friday to clean up the North Bosque River.
The funding was authorized Wednesday by the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee under the Water Resources Development Act, Edwards’ office said.
The plan would authorize federal funds for the first time for clean up efforts by the Army Corps of Engineers.
"This authorization will clear the way for a wide range of clean-up efforts in the Bosque Watershed, and that means reducing pollution in Lake Waco," Edwards said.
