Date Set For England Court-Martial At Fort Hood

The court-martial of Army Reserve PFC Lynndie England is scheduled to begin next Tuesday at Fort Hood, the Army said Tuesday.

England is charged with maltreatment of subordinates, indecent acts and conspiracy in connection with the abuse of prisoners at Baghdad’s Abu Ghraib Prison.

England pleaded guilty in May as part of a plea bargain agreement reached with Army prosecutor, but the court-martial judge rejected the plea and entered a plea of not guilty on England’s behalf after the defense presented evidence that was inconsistent with the guilty plea.

England was arraigned in July at Fort Hood.

She faces a maximum sentence of 11 years in prison, a dishonorable discharge, a reduction in rank to Private and forfeiture of pay and allowances.
