(May 8, 2008)--Documents show Tejano star Emilio Navaira had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit when he crashed his tour bus in an accident that almost claimed his life.

The March 23 traffic accident in the Houston area sent the singer, who goes by Emilio to his fans, through the windshield of the vehicle.

He continues medical rehabilitation from the pre-dawn accident.

The results of toxicology tests show his blood alcohol level was .19.

The legal limit is .08.

In 2002, Navaira pleaded no contest to a DWI charge and completed probation.

Three years later, Navaira was charged with a second DWI after his SUV rolled over as he tried to make a turn on a San Antonio freeway.

Navaira blamed the accident on a slick roadway but a police report indicated he failed a sobriety test.

Yeah it`s terrible that the man was drinking but his doctors first said he would not even survive. But he did.
