Tech Stands Pat On Tuition Save Email Print

(May 9, 2008)—Texas Tech University regents meeting Friday in Lubbock bucked the statewide trend by voting not to raise tuition, fees and boarding costs for next fall.

The regents stepped back from an earlier proposal to increase tuition and fees by 4.4 percent. School administrators will dip about $2 million from reserves to offset the estimated $5.6 million loss in potential revenues.

Across the state, tuitions have gone up more than 40 percent since lawmakers voted in 2003 to let colleges set their own tuitions.
