(May 14, 2008)--A Fort Worth woman is charged with a misdemeanor after allegedly trying to flush her stillborn baby's body down a hospital restroom toilet.

Investigators say 27-year-old Ericka Benitez ended up placing the body in a restroom trash can in a Fort Worth hospital emergency room.

She was arrested on a charge of corpse abuse, a misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.

She remained jailed Wednesday.

Her bond is set at $7,500.

Well, if that's all that's going to be done to her then they might as well let her out of jail!

A misdemeanor, come on? If the baby was a stillborn why was she flushing the baby...sounds like there was something she was hiding to me. Maybe it wasnt stillborn after all.

at the age of 27 mrs. benitez probably had 9 kids already. every time she coughs or sneezes she could give birth. it was just not a big deal to her to just flush and run.

Dumb! What exactly goes through a persons mind when they do this stuff? Psychiatric evaluation is needed on this lady.

So why did she try to dispose of the body? If you would have just let the hospital personnel dispose of the body then duh Ericka you would not have gotten in trouble. Maybe she didn't speak English or maybe she didn't know she was pregnant! I am just referring to the other idiot woman who tried the same thing with their babies!
