The U.S. Senate has approved $17.5 million for Central Texas military projects, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, said Friday.

The approval includes $10 million to fund work by Caterpillar, Inc. in Killeen to rebuild military equipment; $5 million for Army legacy Logistics Systems Modernization by McLane Advanced Technologies; $1.5 million for creation of the Consortium for Autonomous Satellite Systems by the Texas Engineering Experiment Station, Texas A&M University and the University of Texas, and $1 million for PhotoScrub technology being developed by Applied Nanotech, Inc.

“This bill will help meet important national security needs and enhance Central Texas’ position at the forefront of defending America,” Hutchison said.

“These cutting-edge programs can help transform our armed forces into a 21st Century military,” she said.
