(May 15, 2008)--A military trial is set for June for a colonel accused of making sexual advances toward two female civilian workers at an Air Force base in Wichita Falls.
Col. Samuel Lofton III, a former 82nd Training Group commander at Sheppard Air Force Base, is also accused of raping one of the women.
He faces up to life in a military prison if convicted.
The decision to proceed with a court-martial came after testimony in February during an Article 32 hearing held to determine whether there was enough evidence.
Lofton is charged with rape, being absent without leave, 19 counts of larceny, four counts of indecent assault, two counts of dereliction of duty and two counts of conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman.
Lofton maintains his innocence.
Lofton was removed last year from his post, after evidence of financial wrongdoing.
He has since worked at another job at the base.
