How Many Sect “Girls” Are Actually Women? Save Email Print

A | A | A

(May 17, 2008)--Texas authorities have released numbers showing that nearly 60 percent of the teenage girls taken from a polygamous sect's ranch were pregnant or had children, but in the past week, the state has twice been forced to admit "girls" who gave birth while in state custody were actually adults.

One was 22 and claims she showed state officials a Utah birth certificate shortly after she and more than 460 minors were removed from the compound in April.

The state has in custody two-dozen other young mothers and others whose ages are in dispute.

The Associated Press reports if it turns out the other 24 disputed minors are adults, the number of actual 14- to 17-year-old girls with children could drop to as low as five or six.

AP reports that would amount to about one-fifth of the girls that age found at the ranch, which is substantially higher than the average rate of teen pregnancies in Texas but a far cry from 60 percent.

Rod Parker with the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints says it's not widespread.

No one has been arrested or charged in the case.

Hearings are scheduled over the next three weeks to determine what steps the parents of the children will need to take to regain custody.

Patriot and Tamara - she and her husband want many more children (although they didn't want them quite this close together) so she will not be getting anything tied, cut, or removed. Also, NO, we're not footing the bill for her to have or raise the children. Her husband is quiet wealthy, and she is a head person in her company and makes quiet a bit of money. However, she will be resigning when she goes on leave to have #5. DUDE -- I never claimed to be an expert and you don't have to have multiple children to know someone who has multiples and be aware of common information about the ability to have them that closely together.

Mother of one- if I was you I would tell my friend not to leave the hospital until they tie, snip, burn, and then throw away her tubes! Dang I hope she had a c-section!

It is good to know that not all of the "girls" were actually children. Sad that so many children were subjected to that life style and sick that anyone would want to defend it. I hope that it comes to be that the others with the disputed ages are all adults and not teen mothers, but I hope the men responsible for it are punished if they molested or had intercourse with ANY underaged girls. DALE - yes, I agree the 22 year-old could have 3 kids and not have been underage when the first was born if she had them close together (it isn't exactly the best way to go health wise, but it happens) THOSE ATTACKING DALE - I actually know a lady that is due in July with child # 5 and her 1st child won't be 2 years old until August (she got pregnant right after #1 was born by accident and ended up have triplets 10 months later then ended up pregnant again with #5 when the trips were only 3 months old)think DALE was answering the ??? posed by the post before his saying 22 with 3had to be underage

Hey Wannabe DocDale, sounds like you're living in the 1800's! What are you doing with a computer?? And what kind of idiot thinks he can come out on these posts and tell women that ( he ) knows more about their bodies then they do? You would be better off to stay in your 1800's world and OFF the computer Dale!! LOL

It is possible for a woman to have three kids in three years. My wife was 20 when our first was born and 23 when our thrid was born. So it is possible for those 22yr old girls to have three kids and not be underage when they had the first one. Even if she had the first one at 18 that is still 5 years apart.

Dale, this is the 21st century and (Us People) don't get shipped to unwed mothers homes!! LOL!! Yes, it's possible to pop out a baby once a year, every year, for "some" women. But do doctors recommend it? NO! It's a health risk to women because pregnancy takes a toll on a woman body especially if she STAYS pregnant all the time! You are the MORON who just proved by your idiotic post that you are FLDS, living in the 1800's and thinking women are ONLY for giving your (pathethic) men baby after baby. BTW, the FLDS women were getting government assistance all these years from our tax dollars! So Get your facts straight stupid man!

Hey "OBGYN Dale", you sound like you are defending the polygamous. Do you agree that a 50 year old man should be allowed to marry a 14 to 17 year old girl? Should ANY female, regardless of her age, be FORCED to have sex? The answer is NO!!! It is wrong, no matter how you look at it!!!

Posted by: dude Location: texas on May 19, 2008 at 10:05 AM
i have done extensive research in this field and have concluded that at least 98% of women were at some point in thier lives "girls" note: 100 women were studied, including rosie odonel and elen degeneress, that explains the 2%

My girlfriends daughter had 3 childrenin less than three years. She got PG every 10 mos. YES, it is possible and you don't evenhave to go to school to do the math. To know if the girls were under age when they had their first child, 1)you would have to know the age of the child and 2) how old the parent is now.

Posted by: Dale Location: Texas on May 19, 2008 at 09:20 AM
You are a moron. I have nothing to do with that place in Eldarado. You don't have to be an OBGYN to know anything about women. Apparently you don't even know yourself. No wonder you people get pregnant when you are teenagers and get shipped off to an unwed mothers home to have your illegimate kids and then we have to pay for it.

Posted by: Anita Location: Temple on May 19, 2008 at 08:08 AM
To Dale: Are you a OBGYN? I don't think so! You may be used to telling women in your compound how everything is going to be, BUT, not on here pervert!

Posted by: Dale Location: Texas on May 19, 2008 at 04:28 AM
You people could do a lot more good for your community if you were as concerned about the young teenagers in your own town having out-of-wedlock children. BTW, it is possible for a woman to have a child every year for 3 years which would make the one you question about 19 with the first one. It happens all the time.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 18, 2008 at 03:05 PM
Yeah, but what about those 22 yr old girls that have 3 kids? Were they not 'underage' when they had the first one?
