(May 18, 2008) - One of Texas' pioneer broadcasters turned 90 years old, Sunday.
Friends and family of the KWTX founder, M. N. "Buddy" Bostick, gathered at American Plaza in Waco to celebrate Bostick's birthday.
Bostick grew up near Moody and set his path in media while attending Baylor University.
As a student, he produced and hosted several radio programs.
In 1946, a Waco group asked him to start KWTX-AM.
In 1955, Bostick put KWTX-TV on air. He is also responsible for starting stations in Sherman, TX, Lafayette, LA and Bryan-College Station.
Bostick was awarded the Pioneer Broadcaster of the Year award in 1996 by the Texas Association of Broadcasters.
Bostick remains involved in development for the city of Waco including the Waco Mammoth Site project.
