Watches and warnings were issued Monday as a line of strong thunderstorms rolled into Central Texas.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued just after 12 p.m. for Coryell and Lampasas Counties. A warning was issued about 25 minutes later for Bell County.

At about 12:40 p.m. a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for McLennan County.

A severe thunderstorm watch was issued at about 11:30 a.m. Monday that includes Bell, Coryell, Falls, Freestone, Hill, Lampasas, Leon, Limestone and McLennan Counties.

The storms were capable of producing wind gusts to 45 miles per hour, half-inch diameter hail and frequent cloud to ground lightning.

By midday, storms should be moving into the Interstate 35 corridor and behind the front northwest winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour with gusts as high as 40 miles per hour are possible.

A wind advisory was in effect Monday morning for areas along and northwest of a line from Lampasas to Waco to Waxahachie.

The storms should move out of areas of Central Texas west and along Interstate 35 by Monday evening, but it could be a dark and stormy night for trick or treaters east of the Interstate.
