(June 21, 2008)--Police have found the charred remains of two suburban Houston children who have been missing since Father's Day.
The remains of 7-year-old Randy Sylvester Jr. and his 3-year-old sister, Denim Sylvester, were found packed in a wooden chest and a suitcase that had been left in a wooded area in southeastern Houston, about 5 miles from their Pasadena home, investigators said.
Pasadena police Capt. A.H. Corbett told reporters Saturday that the children's father, Randy Sylvester Sr., led searchers to the remains shortly before midnight Friday after a week of misleading statements about where the children were located.
Sylvester is still jailed on an assault charge in an alleged attack on the children's mother, Jerilynn St. Cyr, on Monday night.
