Police Find Charred Remains Of Missing Texas Children Save Email Print

A | A | A

(June 21, 2008)--Police have found the charred remains of two suburban Houston children who have been missing since Father's Day.

The remains of 7-year-old Randy Sylvester Jr. and his 3-year-old sister, Denim Sylvester, were found packed in a wooden chest and a suitcase that had been left in a wooded area in southeastern Houston, about 5 miles from their Pasadena home, investigators said.

Pasadena police Capt. A.H. Corbett told reporters Saturday that the children's father, Randy Sylvester Sr., led searchers to the remains shortly before midnight Friday after a week of misleading statements about where the children were located.

Sylvester is still jailed on an assault charge in an alleged attack on the children's mother, Jerilynn St. Cyr, on Monday night.

Why on earth would someone do this... It takes a really screwed up mind to do something this horrible... any REAL human with REAL feelings would never do something so pernicious...

Posted by: Maxcee Location: El Paso, TX on Sep 5, 2008 at 02:08 AM
This is absolutely horrible! There are people trying to have children & this idiot was blessed to have 2 & did this digusting act!! I agree w/everyone..he needs to feel the pain of his actions! I also agree w/everyone's viewpoint regarding Magnolia..I mean really, as if your city is the only place with those kinds of issues & furthermore..this is to leave comments regarding the story above..not a forum to contact the news station about your coverage concerns. Duh..there are procedures and protocol for contacting them!! It's no wonder your city is having issues with stupid people such as yourself, dwelling within. Back to the story at hand---I'm so appalled by this father's actions!! If anyone harmed my child they would feel my wrath!! I don't care who they are!!

Posted by: Angie Location: Wildomar Ca on Aug 18, 2008 at 01:48 PM
That is just horrible. Who could do such a thing to children. I hope that when he gets to prison, he is beaten and set on fire so that he knows how it feels. I hope he dies a slow painful death. I hope he suffers for what he did. What a scum bag.

Posted by: Just Me Location: McGregor on Jun 28, 2008 at 11:26 PM
Doesn't matter what anyone says, when this sorry piece of _____ does go to the pen, they'll take care of him in there. That is one good thing about the prison system, they take care of the "dirty" work. He'll either die in there or he and "BUBBA" will have to register somewhere!!

What that man did to his own flesh and blood was horrible! How can you just kill your own children like that? People these days are just crazy! He deserves to get the death penilty for doing that. Those children didn't deserve to die. If he had an anger problem he should've went and got some help. I feel sorry for the mother she has to bury her two very young children b/c of one man's stupidity.

i think in these situations the scumbags should have to die the way they kill these poor innocent children. but first i think he should be tortured until hes close to death, and then burned the way these children were. sick

What about the Mother of these kids ? I'm sure the father didn't just snap and just did the crime without warnings. I'm sick and tired of women who stick with men that are so abusive. Guess what if your in a relationship wth a man who drinks a lot. Don't act suprise if he becomes an alcoholic. If your man does drugs, don't be suprised when he becomes an addict. If your man has anger issues don't be suprised when he becomes a wife beater. These people don't just do stuff like this without warning. A FEW women CHOOSE to ignore the signs for their own pursuit of personal happiness. In doing so they put their kids in harms way phisicaly and emotionally. I've seen it at work dozens of time. A woman brags about how good of a man she has. The guy has been arrested dozen times. 6 months later she is crying that she is pregnant and her boyfriend just got sentenced for 10 years for drugs, and she is all alone now. I'm just thinking while listening to her while she wines " ITS THE LAW OF DUH"

These children didn't do one thing to cause this. Children are completely dependent upon adults to see they are safe. This had to be due to drugs and this is why there is so much robbery, murder and many many crimes. Horrible!!!

How awful and how terrifying for those poor babies. Somebody needs to kill him before he goes to prison and lives for years at our expense. I wish we still had hanging or the chair reserved for people who kill kids. Use the needle on the others but not on kid killers. Don't put them to sleep first like the guys who get the needle, make them experience every horror.

Magnolia, you are an idiot. There are 2 children dead here because their father is an insane, sick, lunatic and you want to complain about your small town problems, so inappropriate and selfish...everyone's got em, get over em or move..simple as that...you should know by now that you aren't going to change anything...I wish someone could have changed the outcome for these 2 children though! People like their father should be hung and castrated and fried to death. My prayers and thoughts go out to their family during this hard time.

Posted by: Ann Location: Temple on Jun 23, 2008 at 08:41 AM
May God bless the mother and other family members. Now is not the time for me to comment on the father.

Posted by: Texan Location: Texas on Jun 23, 2008 at 08:34 AM
This is definitely not the end result that I was hoping to hear regarding these two children. Absolutely horrible and I am completely disgusted that someone could do this to these innocent children. Bless their sweet souls and may they rest in peace.

Posted by: Betty Location: Meridian on Jun 23, 2008 at 07:48 AM
O.K., so he showed them where to find the bodies, right? So, he odviously did this horrible crime against these poor children. Why waste tax payer money, put him down like you would a mad dog. Why deal with this in the courts???? My heart goes out to the family.

Magnolia - two children are DEAD, killed by their FATHER! A mother has to face the rest of her life knowing her babies were burned and YOU think this is the place where you should complain that your community isn't getting enough press coverage??? POLITICAL PROBLEMS vs. TWO CHILDREN BURNED TO DEATH....grow up!

Posted by: rob rob Location: waco on Jun 23, 2008 at 05:35 AM
my heart goes out to this mother, and family. This is so horrible, there is not much for me to say. God bless those poor children, take care of them, as they are in your arms now.

This dispicable act of violence on these poor innocent children!! This man will surely feel God's wrath in the fires of hell.

Posted by: RW Location: Killeen on Jun 22, 2008 at 12:10 PM
My prayers are with this family. But on the real, this is the worse, they need to give him the chair in a hurry.

Posted by: Cha Cha Location: Salado on Jun 22, 2008 at 10:56 AM
Save same tax money and send him to our judge at the river. We will show him true justice. What a p.o.s.

Posted by: Deb Location: Temple on Jun 22, 2008 at 07:29 AM
So heartbreaking, I am so sorry for family and friends of this family. Sad doesn't even cover this for the children and families. My heart breaks for your pain. As for Magnolia Blosson in Bartlett this is not the place to cry about your political problems in small Town U.S.A. UGH! MOVE! INAPPROPRIATE!

Posted by: a mom Location: temple on Jun 21, 2008 at 11:07 PM
I hope these children didn't know what was happening to them. Heartbreaking.

Posted by: Magnolia Blossom Location: Bartlett on Jun 21, 2008 at 11:01 PM
Why isn't the News Media interested in any news from our community? We are experiencing some tough political problems in Bartlett that involve 1. Lack of Leadership, 2. Critical issues involving our Water and Sewer infastructor,3. budget run amuk, 4.nepotisiam run rampant,5. Poor leadership & follow up in the Police Dept. Several citizens of Bartlett have requested media coverage &/or investigation coverage from the area T.V. stations and newspapers...You don't show up or return phone calls. I would like to know ON AIR why this is so!

Posted by: mex Location: texas on Jun 21, 2008 at 07:51 PM
Poor kids my prayers go out to the remaining relatives, friends and all those who helped on the serch of those 2 kids. NEED TO DO THE EXACT SAME THING TO THE SPERM DONOR SO CALLED FATHER. News like this make very angry, very angry.
