(July 9, 2008)--The bodies of a man and his estranged wife were found Wednesday at the couple’s Tyler-area home after what evidently was a murder-suicide.
Justice of the Peace Mitch Shamburger told the Tyler Morning Telegraph, for its online edition Wednesday afternoon, that the man evidently used a baseball bat to beat his spouse to death.
Shamburger said the man notified his stepfather, and then hanged himself.
The bodies of 40-year-old Fernando Vela Alvarado and his wife were discovered Wednesday at a residence in Owentown.
Shamburger says Alvarado left a note.
His wife had filed for divorce.
Her name was not immediately released.
Autopsies were ordered.
Owentown is a community of about 100, 10 miles northeast of Tyler.
