Police Officer Dragged By Car Save Email Print

A | A | A

(July 19, 2008)- A Killeen police officer is recovering after an undercover drug investigation went awry Saturday afternoon.

Police say the officer was issuing a warrant in the area of 8th Street and Blake.

According to officers at the scene, a detective tried to stop a car in the area.

The passenger got out and cooperated with the man, but the driver put the car in reverse and drove off, somehow dragging the detective several yards.

The officer managed to get free before the suspect drove forward leaving the scene.

The suspect was later caught by police when he crashed into a telephone pole on Greenwood Avenue nearby.

He was taken to Metroplex Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police named the suspect as Marshaun Wilson of Killeen, in his late 20's.

The policeman who was dragged by the car was treated at the scene and released.

Two more people were reportedly questioned by police at the crime scene in connection with the drug investigation.

Wilson faces traffic charges along with at least one charge of possession of powder cocaine.

The criminal justice system is not working! The lawyers will have this guy out in no time. He will plea out to hardly anything and be back to selling drugs before the cops can get the paperwork done. People complain that cops aren't doing their jobs but if the get a ticket, they complain again. You can't have it both ways. Most cops are doing the best they can with the resources they have. Once the prosecuters get it, oh well. Those people are elected. If they don't do their jobs, vote for someone else, run for office, DO something about it.

Lets give them a pay raise after they start doing a better job.

Dusty...I think that was pretty much Michelle's point. She is saying that they are more worried about loud music than running lights. Geez.

Killeen P.D. deserves a 22 billion dollar payraise for each Officer...

Michelle....Check again, running a red light is against the law! $75.00 is getting off light considering it could have resulted in a crash or even death. It wouldn't be considered an accident on the part of the person running the red light. Pay up & stop running red lights. They are red for a reason!

I'm glad the officer wasn't seriously injured, but I doubt all the right charges will be filed because our esteemed County Prosecuter won't persue them...

I may work at Ft Hood, but this is one of many reasons I don't live in Killeen or Waco. Crooks run rampant, get caught, then get bailed out to do it all over again. I am glad the young officer was not injured seriously. Hope they slam the door shut on these individuals, assault with a deadly weapon would be the first charge I'd push. Do the drug charges separately, don't plea bargain.

I have never seen so much crime for such a small place. I'm beginning to think it's time to move.

Madmax, well said!!!!Killeen is totally out of control. When they can give you a $2000 ticket for loud music and $75 for running a red light, some priorties are a little askew.

Glad he is okay!
