(July 20, 2008)--Authorities say Dallas-area radio personality Russ Martin, host of the "Russ Martin Show" on KLLI-FM, was released on bond after he was arrested on an assault charge.

Martin was arrested Friday on a charge of aggravated assault with bodily injuries with a deadly weapon in connection with an incident at a store, Southlake police said.

A jail spokesman says Martin was released from jail after posting a $10,000 bond.

Martin has worked in Dallas radio for 26 years, according to the station's Web site.

An e-mail sent by The Associated Press to Russ Martin and a voicemail message left at the radio station were not immediately returned Saturday.

hey max, police probably do look the other way for ole russ a lot of the time, but where would you draw the line? dui? drugs? how bout murder? if you let a small thing go because he supports cops it lets the rest of us know that we are not all getting the same justice, cops are sworn to uphold justice for all equally. if the system looks the other way for its own "good ole boys" id rather have anarchy and take care of myself.

i have listened to Russ for quite a while and i bet there is way more to this than we are hearing... i just don't see him doing something that like unprovoked...

O, they need to leave Ol' Russ alone. He is a BIG supporter of Public Safety, especially when they are killed in the line of duty.. I still respect him, he's the man!
