(August 13, 2008)—A line of scuffed orange traffic cones in Belton has been causing at least a few observant residents to do a double take.

The cones are in use on the site of construction of Bell County’s new multi-million dollar jail in Belton.

But they’re all stamped with “City of Waco” logos and with a phone number to call if the cones are found.

The City of Waco says a contractor who worked on a project in Waco probably picked up the wayward cones inadvertently after finishing the job, but it’s not clear how they ended up at the jail construction site in Belton.

A Waco Streets Services representative will recover the cones, which cost about $16 apiece.
