Police Catch Home Burglar In The Act Save Email Print

(August 20, 2008)—Thanks to an alert neighbor, Temple police officers were able to catch a would-be home burglar in the act Tuesday night.

The resident called 911 around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday after hearing glass breaking and seeing a man entering the home of a neighbor.

Officers were dispatched to the home at 201 North 9th Street and were checking the exterior when they spotted a 30-year-old man leaving the residence.

They determined he had broken into the home and arrested him.

He was taken to the Bell County Jail and faces charges of burglary of a habitation.

“The key to capturing the suspect in this case was an observant neighbor that heard glass breakage and saw the suspect entering the residence,” police said Wednesday

Marlin, I had the same thing happen. Unfortunately, the perps ran before I could "detain" them... but none of my neighbors saw anything, despite their being outside at the time.

My home was broken into about 2 years ago. Despite being broad daylight, no one "saw a thing". If I EVER find the people who did it, or they come back, they will regret it!

Thank goodness for the neighbor that heard the noise and decided to call the authorities rather than taking matters into his own hands. 2 thumbs up
