(August 20, 2008)—Two guards and a maintenance worker were injured Wednesday as there inmates attempted to escape from the Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth.
The three victims were taken by ambulance to the hospital Wednesday morning.
Another maintenance worker was treated at the scene and released.
Their identities weren't immediately released.
Sheriff's spokesman Terry Grisham says the attacks happened about 8:30 a.m. when the two jailers were walking the inmates to a recreational area on the top floor.
Authorities believe a shank was used in the assault on the guards.
Grisham says the three inmates then ran toward the elevators, where two county maintenance workers were at the time.
Both workers were attacked.
One of the inmates was identified as Erick "Truman" Davila, a 21-year-old charged with capital murder in a fatal shooting at a crowded birthday party.
